چکیده

The most popular application of holography is using the technique to make three-dimensional images [1]. This paper describes the basic of computationally generating holograms along with integral effect of image processing on hologram. The phrase, “digital holography", is common place in the optics community; it describes the methods used to reconstruct holographic images from physically recorded holograms as well as the methods used to construct holograms from virtual objects using a computer. In fact we have the ability to create digital holograms from imaginary objects and then recreate the image of those objects using the same digital holograms, the entire process performed on a single computer. Computer generated holograms being an image processing technique is prone to certain effects of typical image processing caused due to filtering effects [2]. The effect of image processing on the computer simulation technique for generating Fourier holograms using the Fraunhoffer diffraction theory is discussed. A detailed analysis was done on the computation and numerical reconstruction. Corresponding reconstructions were verified by MATLAB for computer simulation. Understanding this technique, further image enhancement technique can be applied on holographic image.

Blur and Ringing Artifact Measurement in Image Compression using Wavelet Transform

image processing applications. In case of image compression, quality of decompressed image is also the criterion for evaluation of given coding scheme. In the process of compression –decompression various artifacts such as blocking artifacts, blur artifact, ringing or edge artifact are observed. However quantification of these artifacts is a difficult task. We propose here novel method to quant...

Morphological De-ringing Filter Design for JEPG-2000

JPEG2000 plays an important role in image data compression. However, JPEG-2000 produces noticeable image degradation, so-called “ringing artifacts,” in the vicinities of edges in reconstructed images, especially when the images are highly compressed. Ringing artifacts result in artificial contours, thus so degrading the quality of decoded images. To improve the visual quality of decoded images ...

A Review of Various Image Compression Techniques

The overall objective of this paper is to review various image compression techniques. Image compression has become very important tool in digital image processing. The main objective of the compression is to reduce the amount or unwanted data while retaining the information in the image. The goal behind is to save the amount of memory required to save the image(s) or to utilize network bandwid...

Design of a De-ringing Filter for Wavelet-based Compressed Image

JPEG2000 Standard is a new generation image compression technique, enabling encoding images at low bitrates with acceptable quality. Since JPEG2000 is based on wavelet transforms, the reconstructed image will contain perceivable ringing artifacts in medium and low bit-rate regimes of lossy compression. This work utilizes a quad-tree partitioning scheme for post-processing the reconstructed imag...

Removal of artifacts from JPEG compressed document images

We present a segmentation-based post-processing method to remove compression artifacts from JPEG compressed document images. JPEG compressed images typically exhibit ringing and blocking artifacts, which can be objectionable to the viewer above certain compression levels. The ringing is more dominant around textual regions while the blocking is more visible in natural images. Despite extensive ...
